Speaker Pelosi--Liar, Stupid or Just Can't Communicate--You Pick It

The Kovacs Perspective

Nancy Pelosi is the Speaker of The United States House of Representatives. She also is third in-line to be the president of the United States . If President Obama dies or cannot fulfill his term as president the vice-president steps in. If for some reason, the vice-president cannot continue, Nancy Pelosi becomes the president.

The Speaker has had some minor controversies regarding her honesty in the past, as have many politicians. However, what has occurred recently is unique in several ways. First, during a live broadcasted press conference she accused the CIA of lying to her about waterboarding, (which is a controversial technique used in interrogations that some feel is torture while others do not). If a politician says the CIA lied to them, they had better be precisely accurate because the odds are excellent the Central Intelligence Agency has detailed documentation for whatever they discuss with politicians. They are spies for Gods sake-they collect and document information for a living! Therefore, if you are going to call them liars you had better have all your ducks lined up in perfect order. President Obama recently appointed Leon Panetta as the Director of the CIA and Panetta vehemently denied the CIA lied in any way to the Speaker.

An aggressive ABC reporter challenged Pelosi on her assertion that the CIA lied about not telling her intelligence agents were using waterboarding on terrorist suspects. At this point, Speaker Pelosi started doing a two-step worthy of the popular television program Dancing With The Stars. In her answer to the ABC journalist, she now said, they misrepresented the facts to her-not a lie but misrepresented the facts! Okay, maybe so, her answer certainly sounds like the political speak we hear so often from politicians.

However, the next unique fact about this politician caught up in a possible lie is that it's on video and being played all over the Internet, on the popular site You Tube. Tens of thousands have viewed her verbally dancing and squirming. She looks horrible trying to explain herself.

Watching her explain her answers and dealings regarding the CIA is like watching a beginning juggler trying to make sure nothing hits the ground. She sounds pitiful. Either she is bald face lying, extremely unintelligent and cannot grasp simple facts regarding important subject matters or she cannot communicate her ideas well. There are no other possibilities.

I am not going to call her a liar. Even giving her the benefit of the doubt though, I will say I do not want her two people away from being my president. Liar, stupid or a communicator that makes the communicatively challenged George Bush Jr. look like an accomplished orator-I do not want her leading us out of the wilderness that we find ourselves in right now.

Thanks Conner I appreciate it.  No I wasn’t aware of the UK’s speaker’s problems—I’m going to hop on the Internet and read about it though.

Right-wing or leftist to the extreme it doesn't matter, but a concern I have always had with our politicians is their wishy washy answers to crucial questions. I admire someone who takes a stand, can support his/her stand, and have rationale thought to back it. Saying the CIA lied to her and then later stating she was 'mis-represented' is a prime example of this wishy washy behavior. Provide evidence Pelosi or take a back seat. Nice article, Steve.

Thank you--it seems this will die down now and hopefully everyone can concentrate on taking care of crucial problems.

Another case of a politician caught in a lie. I am getting tired of it, to be honest, and it's amusing how the Democrats say it's not as bad as the past eight years. Please, that's almost as bad as the 'No one died when Clinton lied' bumper stickers. Pelosi and her ilk want to have it both ways: point fingers at the opposition and then say she was 'uninformed', 'misquoted' and 'powerless to do anything' when the finger points to her. She is a liar, yet every one who comes to her defense will shift the blame to the Republicans since they seem to be such easy targets. Where is this 'change' we've been hearing about?
Well done, Steve.

Thanks for writing Mike.  Yes, I'm waiting for more change too but I fear that some things, no matter which side of the isle, are slow to change or might never change.
