Lord, I Want To Thank You for My Smokin Hot Wife---Boogity, Boogity, Boogity, Amen!

The Kovacs Perspective
I am not a NASCAR racing fan, however, I have several friends who really enjoy the whole NASCAR experience. Actually, I have never enjoyed watching any part of auto racing until I saw something right before the Nationwide Series Federated Auto Parts 300 race in Nashville, Tennessee recently.
Pastor Joe Nelms of the Family Baptist Church in Lebanon, Tennessee was doing a prayer before the race started. You know, one of those kinds of prayers to bless an event. It started out as a normal, passionate and spirited prayer. A prayer one would expect at an event such as an auto race.
However, when he started asking the good Lord to bless Dodges, Toyotas, Sunoco racing fuel, and Goodyear tires he caught my attention. But, what I heard next really caught my attention! It also made my eyes pop out and then made me laugh my head off. Continuing with his passionate prayer he said, “Lord I want to thank you for my smoking hot wife tonight, Lisa.” Pastor Nelms was getting down and personal with the Lord. Wow! Asking the Lord to bless his smoking hot wife in front of all those thousands in attendance. I loved it. I probably shouldn’t have, but I did. Nonetheless, it wasn’t over yet. He finished his invocation with another unique ending, one that I could never have thought of in a million years. In his closing he said, In Jesus’ name Boogity, Boogity, Boogity, Amen! I couldn’t stop laughing.
I laughed at how ridiculous it all was, how outrages it all was, and yet, so innocent. Some may say we shouldn’t get humorous with the Lord's name or his work and especially when saying a prayer. I am certainly not an expert in the Lord or prayer, not by a long-shot, but I can’t help thinking that this was okay. That it is alright not to take everything seriously all the time. And that it was alright to laugh at this pastor who let it all hang out. Listen to the attached clip and see what you think.

Top-level comments on this article: (2 total)Love it! I think these is actually quotes from the movie Talladega Nights, so it's kind of an inside joke among NASCAR fans. Still, it's a prayer I can give a hearty "Amen!" to. Boogity, Boogity, Boogity!Oh, I didn't know it was probably an inside joke! I still laugh when I play it....boogity, boogity boogity...
